Tree Lighting at North School Park & Festive Fun at Harmony Park

The Village's Special Events Commission and the Arlington Heights Park District celebrate the kick-off to the holiday season with the Tree Lighting at North School Park at Eastman & Evergreen, and festive fun at Harmony Park, at Vail & Campbell in downtown Arlington Heights, on the Friday after Thanksgiving each year. 

2024 Tree Lighting Event Lineup 

Celebrate the kick-off of the holiday season with the lighting of North School Park and Harmony Park on Friday, November 29th, 2024!

North School Park

  • 4:30 p.m.: See Park District Vibe Dance Group and hear Hersey School Dickens Carolers.
  • 5:00 p.m.: Arlington Heights Park Board President Maryfran Leno and Arlington Heights Mayor Thomas W. Hayes will welcome guests, followed by the lighting of North School Park!
  • Hot chocolate and treats are available for purchase from the Cookies with Flavor food truck on Eastman 

Family Fun at Harmony Park: 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.

  • See ice carvers in action as they carve holiday themed ice sculptures.
  • Get up close to real life reindeer 
  • Experience a giant ornament of lights
  • Take pictures at photo stations
  • Get a professional photo taken for free

Trolleys Loop from 3:45 - 6:45 p.m. 

Trolleys will be looping from Harmony Park to North School Park, 3:45 - 6:45. Dickens era characters will be on the trolleys, sharing stories about Arlington Heights in the past. Trolley stops will be located at: 

  • North School Park: On the east side of Evergreen, just north of Eastman. 
  • Harmony Park: On the east side Vail, south of Campbell. 

Wheelchair Accessible Holiday Bus! 

The Village is offering a wheelchair accessible trolley bus, from 3:45 - 6:45 p.m., to connect Harmony Park and North School Park. This vehicle is reserved for people or families who require wheelchair accessibility. Staff located at the trolley stops will be able to coordinate your on-site request. 


Parking Information

Many nearby parking lots offer free parking to event goers! The parking garage at Eastman and Evergreen can become congested during this event. Visit the Tree Lighting Parking Map to find parking opportunities and plan ahead!
