Mom of the week - Ariana

By Marcela Naste, publisher for Schaumburg - Hoffman Estates September 11, 2019

Who’s Ariana? Tell us a few things about you?

I am an introvert person, some may say, but if you have the time to get to know me, you will realize that I am warm and open. I’m only 30 years old and I am still discovering myself; whatever comes daily, the way I manage to deal with things, how they impact my day to day life.

At 20 years old I was fearless, energic, wild; but now? I am opposite of all that.

Who are your role models?

My mom! Since I know her, for me she was a superhero person; she could have done anything, be everywhere, she was with me all the time, whenever I needed her. Being a single mom, she raised 3 kids by herself, she’s strong, honest, but sometimes a little naïve (maybe that’s why she was willing to raise us by herself); like me šŸ˜Š Since I’ve become a mother, we got very close (even if she’s very far away), and I started to appreciate her more for everything she has done for us!

Describe your family.

My Family? Every single day is different. We have Ups and downs all the time; but we really love each other, and our little girl! We like to spend a lot of time together, but more at home, cooking together, while our girl is playing around us.

There are a lot of myths about a stay at home mom; from your point of view what is the hardest and easiest thing being at home all the time?

The hardest is not losing yourself, which I did already…since I’ve become a mom, I had put all my energy and everything into raising her. Being a new mom and learning this “job” while I was caring for her, I had difficulties in establishing a routine for her; long…long… nights without too much sleep. After 2 years and a half of hectic schedules and few improvements in her development, I started to realize, while comparing my child with others, that she’s a “special child,” and then I have sought for help!

The easiest thing - > being able to stay at home and raise my child and being with her all the time!

How have you changed as a person since becoming a mom?

I’ve changed a lot! My husband tells me all the time “to come back to old me” that wild girl that he met 10 years ago.

Right now, I am very calculated, predictable, boring šŸ˜Š If I use to be very impulsive, now I am very mellow!

How would young Ariana describe today’s Ariana?

I think young Ariana will say “OMG woman, what happened with you, why are you so boring?” I changed a lot, and I never thought that having a kid will change me so much. But still, I love my life and my little girl, and I’m ready for whatever life will bring forward!

And what is Ariana trying to do in order to become/ come back more like she used to be?

I am planning to go back to school and earn a college degree in medical field; right now I am focusing on the steps that needs to be taken to start the classes; and if all goes well, we are planning to extend our family!
