From very beginning, we must say that you are a mom with adult girls š, so for you motherhood its at a different level, if we can call it like this. So how is being a mom these days? What’s the one thing you would have done differently as a mom?
One thing I would have done differently as a mom is to spend more time with my kids when they were toddlers. I was a teacher and when I got home, I had a list of chores and dinner to make. I look back now and wish I made less time for chores and spent more quality time with my girls.
Do you think it’s easier or harder to be a mother now than when you were raising your family?
I think it is harder now to raise a family because of all the access kids have to social media. My kids didn’t have phones in kindergarten, and they didn’t have their faces imbedded in a devise during dinner, instead of learning to make conversation and interact with one another.
What do you love to do with your girls?
We love to do art together. Which is why owning Color Me Mine Schaumburg has been a great adventure. Both my girls are artistic, and we have scrapbooked together, they often come into my pottery studio and paint with me. It brings me joy to see them create beautiful artwork.
Tell us more about your passions, hobbies?
I really enjoy my walks with my dog and riding on the back of my fiancés Harley. I love working in my flower garden and the feeling of the warm sun is the best. I am passionate about helping others find their inner creativity. I enjoy being in a field that can help people relax and find comfort in painting and creating.
How would young Johanna describe today’s Johanna?
Young Johanna would describe today’s Johanna as determined and hard working. She would be proud of today’s Johanna. I have been through a lot and I have had to make some difficult changes. My goal in life is to always teach my girls that no matter what life throws you, you need to take a deep breath and figure out the best course of action. Together family can get through anything!
