Describe in a few words your business, how long have you been on the market, what services do you offer.
FIT4MOM Chicago Northwest launched classes in May 2015. The biggest thing we offer for moms is a village. A lot of moms say they come for the fitness and stay for the village. We offer fitness classes for moms at all stages of motherhood. Whether they are pregnant and wanting to stay active, newly post-partum with stroller age kiddos, or had their last baby 20 years ago, we have a class where they can get fit and get engaged with other local moms. In addition to the fitness classes, we have Our Village events. These include weekly play groups for moms and kiddos as well as monthly Moms Night Out events, that have included mini spa days, aerial yoga classes, dinners, and much more.
What about your family? What can you tell us about them?
Aimee is mommy to Emilia who is 4, Colton who is 2, and Keira who is almost 1. My kids are my world. I joined FIT4MOM not only for myself, but for them as well. They have made so many friends and learned so much at Stroller Strides. Emilia knew how to sing the ABCs backwards before she started preschool. I also love being able to model a healthy and active lifestyle for them, by showing them how fun exercise can be!
Jenny is the proud mama of Mackenzie. She is 2 years old and so full of joy. I love when she wakes up in the morning and asks, “Stroller Strides?”, because she knows we are going to class that day. My husband and I are also expecting bay #2 in September.
How did you manage to keep everything going together: business and family?
The beautiful thing about owning a FIT4MOM business is that everything about it is designed with family in mind. We can work our schedules around our family needs. In addition, we have such an amazing village of instructors and support staff who help keep everything running smoothly.
When you are not working, or looking after your family, where can you be found?
If I have a little break from “mommy-ing” I may indulge a little bit with a mani/pedi day or meeting up with friends. Shopping alone is always nice too!
What is something you especially proud of?
I am proud of us, for taking on the challenge of running this business and creating such an amazing village of moms from it. I love it when I see pictures of moms on Facebook, who have met through our programs, hanging out together outside of FIT4MOM activities. So much of what we do is about creating a village and support system for moms and I love that we were able to create that.
What quality do you most admire in a mother?
Patience! When I see that mom in the store whose toddler is throwing a tantrum and they are still calmly talking with them and taking it all in stride I just think “you go, mama!”
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Jenny: I would go to South Africa. I love experiencing cultures and environments that are so different from what I experience daily.
Aimee: I would go back to Hawaii. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there and it was by far the most amazing vacation I've ever taken. Snorkeling, hiking, and horseback riding through the beautiful terrain was an incredible experience.
OST Field is our outdoor location once weather gets nice, but we will always have indoor at Woodfield.
