St. Patrick Events in Suburbs

Every March 17th, thousands of people march in Irish pride parades, eat green clover-shaped cookies, and quaff frosty mugs of green beer in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. But do you really know who St. Patrick was and why he is celebrated? 

Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He was a Christian missionary given credited with converting Ireland to Christianity in the AD 400s, or at least this is what the history' is saying, since no actual documents have been found to confirm it. 

So let's see what events we have around our area for this occasion. 


Pot o' Gold Hunt

A leprechaun has hidden his pot of gold at spring Valley for you to find! Follow the leprechaun's trail and hike through the prairie and forest to find the hidden treasure at then end of the rainbow!

St. Patrick's Day Gold Coin Hunt

Come to Bock for a St. Patrick’s Day snack and craft before heading out into a field of green clovers, each including a special treat. Wear your best St. Patrick’s Day attire and complete the gold coin hunt!

Kids Cooking (St. Patrick's Day Treats with Parent)

Children will love to cook all by themselves. All food/supplies are included in this hands-on, fun-filled class. Please bring a container to carry treats home.

Thom McNamee Memorial St. Patrick's Day Parade

Festivities include a Kilted 5K Race, a Big Wheel Race, a Dress Up Your Pet St. Patrick's Day Pet Parade Irish Dancers, music, marching bands and more.

Elmhurst Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade

Ranked as the 2nd largest parade in the Chicago area. Includes more than 80 floats, Irish dancers, the Shannon Rovers, local team mascots and others.
